Arrival & Registration
+ I don’t drive, can I get to the Moot.
Its really easy to get there using public transport, just get a train to Bridgend then it’s a 15 minute taxi ride or an hour on foot.
+ Is there parking
We have a large parking area, it is clearly marked with with tapped off areas, you will be issues with a ticket so we know who’s car is who’s.
+ Can I bring a caravan/camper
A number of people bring small van sized campers and have no trouble getting them set up. If you are bringing a camper it would be wise to ask at reception to check where is best to camp. Regards to the caravan, we have had the odd one, so please check before booking to ensure it can be arranged, as it may have to be placed in the carpark due to ground clearance issues.
+ Booking in - Where is reception to Book in
Reception is located in the centre of the site. Here you will find a happy team to get you all sorted.
+ Can I camp anywhere, or are there allocated pitches
There are no pitches, just sign in and find somewhere to camp within the allocated camping area. There are quite areas, not so quiet and lots in between. All we ask is that you don’t run guy lines over or block foot paths.
+ I have a hammock, can I use this
Absolutely, many Bushmooters choose to use a hammock, however lots also use a mixture of small one man tents, tarp with a sleep mat, right up to bell tents.
+ Are there any EHU points
In a word, no. Most people bring portable power packs for charging phones and radios, however they maybe a chance to charge up phones in the reception area, please just check with the team.
Activities - Workshops & Courses
+ What is the difference between a Workshop and a Course
Workshops are scheduled during the core days of the Moot, we usually run about 80 workshops and demonstrations, these are free to attend, although a small materials fee is sometimes requested if you participate.
Courses are organised whole or multi day events that need payment to attend.
+ How do I know what workshops are scheduled
Each night we post the following days workshop schedule on the boards by reception.
+ Are there planned activities
This is fundamentally what Bushmoot is, people sharing their knowledge and stills. Most mornings there is a briefing where people are updated about any workshops being offered. If there was something in particular you want to learn, this is when you ask.
+ Is there a cost to the workshops
Most workshops are free, and for some a donation is requested to cover material costs. The workshops are all run by volunteers who provide the relevant equipment at their own cost, so sometimes you will be asked to put a few pounds in to the tin.
+ Can I pre book onto a workshop
There are two types of workshop, these are “come and learn” and “corses”. The come and learn are very much that, there is a main notice board with workshop times and locations, if you see something you like, just arrive at the allotted time. For the corses, these are usually run outside the core dates, and will needs to be booked before hand. Full details and costs will be posted on the website under “corses”.
+ Are there children specific workshops
Yes, these are predominately craft based, however if supervised many of the activities are suitable for all ages.
+ Can I share my skills and knowledge
Absolutely, we love enthusiastic people! Just speak to a member of the team and we will do what we can to accommodate you. If you want to organise things before the Moot email info@bushmoot.com
+ I want to learn something and it’s not on the board
If there is a particular skill you wish to master and no one is running a workshop, just ask at the morning meetings and if someone can help, the team will try and fit it in the program. Many of the workshops have come from people asking “can anyone show me how to…”
Staying at the site
+ Are there bins on the site
Behind reception there is bin area, here you will find bins for food waste, and both non and recyclable waste.
+ Where can I get water
There are water points around the site, however the deeper you go into the woods, the further away from these points you are, so bear this in mind when choosing your pitch.
+ Is the water safe to drink?
The water on site is mains feed, so there should be no reason why would would have problems, no more so than staying anywhere in the uk.
#3# + Are there toilets and showers
Within the main building (reception) there are a number of both male and female toilets, along with segregated washrooms and shower facilities. The site is mostly sand, so the toilets do get a little sandy underfoot, however the team regularly sweep them out
+ Is there an on site shop
Within reception there is selection Bushcraft items, such as knives, para cord and chocolates and sweets for the “children”. This is expending year in year, so ice creams are available too. Bridgend is a short drive away, where you will find a number of large supermarkets and DIY stores.

Along with the shop there is a bring and buy in reception, this is very popular and for a small fee, you can leave your priced and named items on the tables, most items will be sold.

Appropriate sized fires are permitted in fire trays, please be cautious, most of the site is sandy which helps with safety but please ensure the fire is not left unattended and is fully extinguished and clean away before leaving the site.
+ Is there firewood, can I bring my own
The landowners have requested that no wood is brought on to the site, this is due to potential contamination on the native trees, however we have plenty of fire wood delivered during the moot which your encouraged to use. Large sacks of split seasoned logs can be purchased, these need to be ordered before the moot. So if you have a large group get in touch, however they are not recommended for single groups as these are big sacks.
+ Can I bring my knife
Yes this is not a problem, however if you carry any sharp tool, you also need to carry a first aid kit. Children under 16 are not permitted to carry a knife when not with a parent. They are free to use them in your own camp or at workshops when they are appropriately supervised.

Yes, however please bear in mind this is a family camp so act appropriately when drinking, and in the interest of safety, don’t drink and carry or use sharp tools.

Yes please. It helps us keep track of who's on site for safety reasons. Please make sure that any fire has been properlly cleared and that your camping area is cleared of all litter etc. Please ensuring you follow a “leave no trace” policy.
