MakerMoot
A relaxed woodland weekend for people who enjoy making, creating and good company.
What is a MakerMoot?
MakerMoot is a friendly woodland gathering for people who enjoy making things.
Bring a project you have been meaning to get on with, start something new, share ideas with other people, or simply come along and see what everyone else is working on.
There is no formal programme of workshops and no pressure to achieve anything. The idea is simply to give people time, space and good company to make, create and enjoy a weekend together.
At the heart of the weekend is a large indoor cabin where we can work around tables, spread projects out and stay warm whatever the November weather is doing.
Outside, you still have the things that make a Moot a Moot: camping, fires, woodland, brews, conversations and plenty of time to relax.
why this weekend?
MakerMoot was created partly because this weekend already brings together a huge number of makers, craftspeople, traders and reenactors in the local area.
Both TORM — The Original Re-enactors Market and ARM — The Artisan & Reenactors Market take place nearby over the same weekend.
That means you can spend part of the day browsing handmade goods, traditional crafts, tools, materials and specialist kit, meet makers and traders, pick up ideas or supplies, and then come back to MakerMoot and carry on making.
It gives the weekend a really natural rhythm:
visit the markets, get inspired, come back and make.

Why People come
Making
Bring a project, start something new or finally make progress on something you have been meaning to finish.
Sharing
MakerMoot is informal. People naturally swap ideas, techniques and experience while working alongside each other.
Slow Down
There is no schedule to chase. Make things, drink tea, sit by the fire, chat, wander through the woods or simply enjoy being there.
What might you make?
There is no fixed list.
People bring whatever they are interested in working on. That might be leatherwork, carving, sewing, repairs, woodwork, textiles, craft projects or something completely different.
You do not need to bring a complicated project.
Sometimes the best MakerMoot project is simply something you have been meaning to sit down and finish. It helps to be surrounded by good people working away on their projects.
Who is MakerMoot for?
MakerMoot is for anyone who likes making, creating, fixing, learning or simply spending time around people who do.
You do not need to be an expert. You do not need specialist equipment. And you do not have to spend the whole weekend making things.
Some people arrive with a box full of projects. Others bring one simple thing to work on. Some spend almost as much time talking, drinking tea and sitting around the fire as they do making.
That is absolutely fine.
A warm place to work together
Our main MakerMoot space this year is a large indoor cabin; we also have another building, a large outdoor space and a couple of fire shelters.
It gives us somewhere warm and comfortable to work together, with room for projects, tools and materials.
You can move between the cabin, campsite, fire and woodland throughout the weekend.
Bring your sewing machines, tools and equipment, whatever you need for your project. We will provide the facilities such as:
Power/electricity, lighting, heating, fires, hot water for drinks etc, tables and plenty of space.
it is still a Moot?
MakerMoot is not just about sitting at a table making things.
There is plenty of time to camp, sit around the fire, catch up with friends, meet new people and enjoy being in the woods.
If you have been to a BushMoot before, you will recognise the same relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
If you have never been to a Moot, MakerMoot is a very easy one to start with. get as stuck in as you wan to and relax as much as you need to.

FAQ
Never been to a Moot before?
Start here.
-
Not at all.
MakerMoot is for people at every level, from complete beginners to people who have been making things for years.
You might arrive with a complicated leatherworking project, a bit of sewing, something that needs repairing, a spoon to carve, or simply something you have been meaning to have a go at.
There is no expectation that you need to be particularly skilled or productive.
-
MakerMoot is deliberately relaxed.
People bring their own projects and spend time making alongside each other in our main indoor space, around camp and wherever suits the project.
There is plenty of conversation, tea, sharing ideas, looking at what other people are working on and helping one another when someone has useful experience to share.
There is also plenty of time simply to enjoy being at the Moot, sit around the fire, spend time outdoors or head off to TORM and ARM.
There is no packed timetable that you have to follow.
-
MakerMoot is not run as a formal workshop event.
One of the ideas behind it is that people bring their own interests and projects and skills get shared naturally.
Someone sitting next to you may know exactly how to solve the problem you have been wrestling with, while somebody else may be interested in something you know how to do.
That informal exchange of ideas and experience is a big part of MakerMoot.
-
Pretty much anything sensible and practical that works in the space available.
That might include:
leatherwork
carving
sewing
knitting
textiles
repairs
woodwork
cordage
tool maintenance
small craft projects
designing or planning a future project
something completely different
If you are unsure whether a particular project, tool or process is suitable, contact us before the event and ask.
-
No.
If you have something you have been meaning to work on, bring it.
But you can also come along without a grand plan.
You may find inspiration from the other people there, spend some time visiting TORM and ARM, or simply enjoy the social side of MakerMoot.
-
Our main communal making area for 2026 is a large indoor cabin.
This gives us a warm, sheltered place to work around tables and spread out tools and materials, which is particularly welcome in November.
You can move between the indoor space, the campsite, the fire and the woodland as much as you like.
-
Two large makers' and reenactors' markets take place nearby over the same weekend.
TORM — The Original Re-enactors Market takes place from 13–15 November 2026 at Sports Connexion, Ryton-on-Dunsmore. It brings together a wide range of specialist traders and makers selling historically accurate and handmade goods.
ARM — The Artisan & Reenactors Market also takes place from 13–15 November 2026 and brings together artisans, reenactors, makers and specialist traders.
They are separate events from MakerMoot, but having both of them nearby is one of the reasons MakerMoot takes place on this particular weekend.
-
No.
They are completely optional.
Some people may spend several hours browsing the markets, while others may stay at MakerMoot all weekend.
The nice thing is that you can choose.
Visit the markets, meet makers, find tools or materials and get some inspiration, then come back to MakerMoot and carry on making.
-
No.
TORM and ARM are independently organised events with their own entry arrangements.
Your MakerMoot ticket covers MakerMoot at Rough Close, not admission to either market.
Check the official TORM and ARM websites for their current ticket and visitor information before travelling.
-
Both are in the wider Coventry/Warwickshire area and are intended as easy trips out from MakerMoot rather than part of the campsite itself.
TORM is held at Sports Connexion in Ryton-on-Dunsmore and ARM is at the Warwickshire Event Centre.
By car TORM is under 11 miles away and ARM is less that 15 miles away TORM and ARM are about 7 miles from each other.
You can visit both in a day or on different days.
-
You do not need to have been to a BushMoot before.
MakerMoot is deliberately informal and friendly.
There is no need to arrive knowing everyone, understanding bushcraft culture or having a particular level of outdoor experience.
People come because they enjoy making things, spending time outdoors and being around other people with similar interests.
If you are new, just tell us when you arrive. We will help you get settled and point you in the right direction.
-
Absolutely.
Lots of people worry about this before their first event.
MakerMoot is a social weekend, and making things together gives people a very natural way to get talking.
You do not need to bring a group with you in order to feel part of things.
-
No.
MakerMoot grew out of the BushMoot community, but you do not need to identify as a bushcrafter to enjoy it.
If you like making, fixing, craft, traditional skills, outdoor life or simply being around creative people, you will probably find plenty to interest you.
-
Yes.
You are not signing up for three days of compulsory making.
Work on your project when you want to.
Go to the markets.
Sit around the fire.
Have a brew.
Talk to people.
Go for a wander.
MakerMoot is intended to give you time rather than fill every minute of it.

There is also an Extended MakerMoot option starting on Thursday 12 November.
